Museum interiors are acoustically difficult for two opposite reasons at once. In large halls, sound bounces off the walls and comes back delayed, so the end of a sentence overlaps with its beginning. In smaller, crowded rooms, the noise of conversations and ventilation drowns out the guide before it reaches the back of the group.

A guided tour system solves both problems the same way: the sound goes straight to the visitor's ear, bypassing the room entirely. The guide doesn't have to raise their voice, so they don't disturb other visitors or other groups - which is usually the condition venues care about most.

It also solves a problem every curator knows: the group no longer huddles into a tight semicircle around the guide. With a range of up to 100 metres, visitors can stand comfortably apart and still hear everything.
